Use the Sparrow pattern to create a bird quilt. The quilt size, according to the pattern, is 65 ½” x 71”. Your choice of colors will determine if your birds look like sparrows, bluebirds, robins, or a combination of birds. Learn to make mirror image blocks and play with their placement for your unique quilt. Consistent cutting and sewing will give the best results, so techniques will be suggested. The use of the design wall in the classroom will help with the visualization of the final quilt.

Price: $30

Skill Level: Confident Beginner and above

Instructor Name: Carolyn Carlson

Supplies List: Sewing machine with appropriate foot and new quilting needle, quilting thread, bobbins, snips, scissors, rotatory cutter, and rulers, pins, marking pencil for light and dark fabrics, seam ripper, tape measure and any other tools you prefer to use.

Fabric: the pattern calls for ½ yard each of four colors for the bird body. (I used six different colors.) 1/16th yard of black for bird eyes.  ½ yard of caramel for beak and tail.  (I used the ½ yard for the beaks and triangles.) 3 ½ yards of background fabric.
