Create a simple block that can be arranged in various ways, focusing on the “Positivity” version. Learn how to cut and sew the block using different fabric options, such as yardage, fat quarters, a layer cake, or a jelly roll. Choose the appropriate technique for making half-square triangles based on your fabric options and sewing skills. Cut and sew precisely to ensure consistent block sizes. Finally, lay out your blocks to design your quilt.

Supplies List: Fabric for blocks may be a jelly roll, a layer cake, fat quarters, or yardage. A layer cake or jelly roll should be able to be divided into half light and half dark fabrics, all of which contrast nicely with your choice of background fabric - 1 ¼ yards. If doing a controlled layout as shown in the sample, you may need 2 jelly rolls or layer cakes to get enough repeats of a fabric, so consult the pattern for yardages. Additional supplies are: tape measure, sewing machine, thread, bobbin, snips, seam ripper, pins, a rotary cutter, and ruler(s).
